This year's Christmas Party was a super success, with nearly 80 friends and neighbours joining in the celebration. The evening started with bubbly and a vast assortment of canapies as everyone mixed and enjoyed the convivial atmosphere before sitting down to dinner. Our incredibly efficient waiters and waitresses then served up a delicious beef bourguignon that had been lovingly prepared by master chef David. This was followed by an extraordinary mixed plate of wonderfully indulgent deserts prepared by pastry chef Corry. We were truly in foodie heaven!
There was no need to worry about having over-indulged though, because DJ Paul managed to get everyone away from their tables and onto the dance floor as soon as the last dessert spoon had been licked clean. Paul clearly knew what it would take to get us up and dancing, and the floor never emptied until we reached the "bewitching hour" (i.e. our music license ran out).
Thank you so much to everyone who worked so hard to make this event happen! Particular thanks to Corry, Fran, Caroline and Anita who formed the official "Christmas Party Committee", to David M who prepared the main meal, to Corry to prepared the desserts, to David B who stocked and tended bar all night, to Paul who DJ'd, to all our fabulous waiters and waitresses, and to the often unsung heroes who dragged themselves out of bed the next morning to clear up and clean the hall so it would be ready for the next event.
This delightful 6-week evening course was well attended and a fun success that we hope to repeat again next year. In addition to the variety of crafts, we understand through the "grape vine" that the attendees partook of an equally and possibly larger variety of happiness inducing refreshments. What a fabulous way of coming to grips with the somewhat dismal autumn season of rain, cooling temperatures and shortening days! The dates were - 3, 10, 17 Oct, and 7, 14, 21 Nov. Thank you to Corrine and everyone else who did so much to make this happen.
