![]() As predicted by the pundits, it was an exciting, adrenaline inducing race night, as friends and neighbours placed their bets and everyone attempted to finish the night on top of the stakes. Andy Langman, the Committee's outgoing Treasurer, rose to the occasion, saddled up to the front of the room, and lead the pack through all of the races but in the end won none of them! Liz Knight clearly had an eye for the horses and won top prize of the evening, which was of course a bottle of bubbly and some flowers. Her outstanding success also helped propel her table into first place in regard to table winnings, for which they will all be given half-price admission to the Rous Lench treasure hunt event scheduled for 7 June. After the racing was finished, and all the night's winners were looking for a place to spend their windfalls, a charity auction of a huge selection of gorgeous plants was run by Izzy Langman in aid of The Graig Bellamy Foundation which supports young footballers in Sierra Leone. The objective was to raise at least £210, and this was comfortably exceeded. A very big thank you to everyone whose diligent work made this fun event possible, including selling tickets (Fran, Izzy, Corrine and others), setting up the hall (you know who your are), running the bar (David Browne), preparing the delicious chili supper (Caroline Moysey), to clearing up afterwards (again, you know who you are).
