Last night at 2:30am (27 Feb) a Land Rover Defender was stolen from the drive in front of a house in Rous Lench (Blacksmith's Cottage). The police were called and arrived 15 minutes later. The promptness of the police is reassuring.
The stolen Defender is a long wheelbase version, T reg, dark metallic green with a bright orange print on the spare wheel cover. Please keep a look-out for it. A few years ago there was another incident in which a car was stolen from someone's drive in Rous Lench, but it was perpetrated in broad daylight. One of the criminals distracted the car's owner by knocking on their door and claiming to have had an accident which damaged a part of their property wall. There was no discernible damage. Apparently, while the owner was examining the supposedly damaged wall, another criminal entered their momentarily unattended house and found the car keys inside. Shortly afterwards the car's owner discovered that the car had been stolen. Please remain vigilant.
