As we are aware tomorrow is the 100th anniversary of the start of hostilities of the First World War. You may well have heard about the “Lights Out” idea of turning public building and home lights out between 10.00 – 11.00 pm tomorrow night and leave a candle burning remembering the Foreign secretary’s speech mentioning lights going out in Europe.
Well your local church is going to light a candle for that hour and it will be open if you want to step in for a prayer or just be still.
The candle will be in as prominent position as possible so that it will be visible from the outside – but visibility will vary from church to church of course.
I will be going around the churches to say my own prayer or join you in yours during that hour.
On a separate point I would like to thank all those who were involved in the World War 1 exhibition at Church Lench it was excellent – and thanks to all those who donated memorabilia.
Blessings to all,
