What a wonderful turn out for Ken yesterday – I think at the end it probably worked best for the service to be in Rous Lench as there are less chairs, but allows for more standing room and we needed it all.
It was touching to witness and to play a part in Ken’s funeral service as again it reminds one what a community there is in Church Lench and beyond, how appreciative people are for those who play a great part in it. An unforgettable day.
I would also like to bring to you the fact that All Saints Church would like to invite you to join them in the club this Saturday at 1.00 pm to sing Carols in the Club led by the Alcester Silver Band and be supplied with mince pies.
A recent radio series about the history of Carols reminds us that amongst other things – Carol tunes were dances. So I hope that we will see one or two of the braver members of the community doing a turn at the club – no matter their age.
So I look forward to a lovely community event on Saturday at 1.00 pm – with the opportunity for All Saints to say thank you for all your support.
Dear Church Lench and Rous Lench communities,
Two pieces of news that I know you will wish to be updated on.
Firstly the redecoration of All Saints Church is taking longer than we had hoped – there is a considerable amount of plastering (more than we expected) and it take time to dry. As a result the church will not be reopening until after Christmas.
Health and Safety: I would ask in the meantime – this is a request from the redecorating team and our insurers would you please not go into the church in the meantime if anything happens to you – it may be expensive… as well as harmful.
As a result the Church Lench Carol service on Sunday 22nd December at 6.30 pm and the Christmas Eve Family Service at 4.00 pm will both be in Church Lench Village Hall.
Rous Lench Church will host Ken Badger’s funeral on Tuesday 10th December at 11.30 am (his burial will be at All Saints).
Rous Lench will also be used for the midnight Christmas Eve service at 11.30 pm.
Any questions do ask.
As some of you avid fans will be aware, the second film in the epic 'Hobbit' trilogy is due to be released on 13 December 2013.
Therefore we thought this would be an excellent time to show the first film on the big screen!
So for those of you who want to refresh your memories, or even those who've not yet seen this spectacular fantasy flick and want to catch up before the next one comes out, come on down to the Club!
The usual drinks and snacks will be available... maybe some festive treats too!
Another superb performance, GLADS adaptation of Sleeping Beauty had you laughing from start to finish.
