Dear Harvington and Church Lench residents,
I thought you might like to know of one of the unexpected (probably expected) consequences of the extended road closure programme on Harvington. Last week I asked the Harvington shop where I get my papers from how business had been affected since the road closure. I confess his answer alarmed me as it might you – he told me that his takings are down by £800 a day! That drop off in business will surely be unsustainable for any length of time – and they are facing weeks of this. So I am going to suggest the blindingly obvious – we users of the shop must keep using it or … well we know the rest. The solution is with us and not Severn Trent who at the end of the day are trying to improve our amenities. Please pass the information on as you see fit. Let us see what we can together do. Blessings from a concerned citizen, Richard

Dear Church Lench,
Good news – at last. The bell tower is repaired and the bells are rehung – hooray! Trevor Harwood, David Chambers and the bell ringing team are chatting together about rehearsals and tidying up that needs doing in the tower. So in the very near future we will again hear the bells being rung and a happy smiling group of bell ringers gathered in the club on Monday evenings enjoying a well-earned post practise pint… The PCC have not forgotten that the church needs redecorating as you may remember from an earlier email. We are now instructing Peter Rhodes to contact the preferred contractor to begin work on this at their earliest convenience. This an even more substantial piece of work than the bell tower, but we have an idea on costs and we have a time limited faculty or “permission to proceed”. We have dipped into the savings pot and been helped by your generous support via the “Hipton Hill challenge” sponsorship to pay for the tower repairs, but we will be inviting further assistance for the redecoration. To help with this Anne and John Logan are laying on a concert at their house – a professional group – on Sunday 8th September. Tickets I believe are available contact Anne next week. So watch out for scaffolding being installed in the church and the church may be restricted in its use for a short time – we will keep you posted on any developments. Blessings, Richard We are pleased to now include the Village Hall calendar both on its own page and merged in to the main calendar. Please note that for the moment the calendar will show booking times and not event times. We are working on the best way to combine both.
We hope to feature other calendars very soon and anyone that we have not yet spoken to about merging in calendars should send an email via our contact page or chat to Jon.
