Dear Sir/Madam,
I have been researching a relative of mine Joseph Arch Aston who was wounded in the First World War, during the course of my research I came across the following entry in The Roll of Honour of bell ringers killed in that war, (he was not related to the Astons from Church Lench) but I thought that the name Aston maybe of some interest to your parishoners. Private Robert Geoffrey Aston. Church Lench, Worcestershire. Died 11/04/1915, drowned at sea from HMT Wayfarer, aged 22. Warwickshire Yeomanry, Service Number 1949. Remembered on the Hollybrook Memorial, Southampton, England. Son of Enoch James and Marion Ada Aston of Church Lench, Evesham, Worcestershire. Born: Church Lench, Evesham. Enlisted: Warwick. Resided: Evesham. I hope that this is of some interest to you and your Parishoners, I think that anyone who volunteered for sevice in that horrific war was a hero. Peter
